What Is Church Membership?

When a person joins the membership of Berea Baptist Church, they are joining a spiritual family.  This spiritual family connects with each other; praying, supporting, encouraging and admonishing in love.

Why Should I Join The Church Membership?

When a person has been born again, the Bible is very clear of their need to join fellowship with a congregation of other believers that believe the Bible (AV1611) and follow it without compromise. - (Acts 2:47; 1 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:25).

There are five great reasons to join, faithfully attend, and get involved with the church.

1. You need a family.

  • The church is a family.
  • God expects me to be a member of a church family.
  • A Christian without a church family is an orphan
  • Berea Baptist is a spiritual family.

2. You need healthy relationships.

" Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”  - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

3. You need a place to use your gifts.

“ Neglect not the gift that is in thee…”  - 1 Timothy 4:14

4. You need a place to grow.

" And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” - Acts 2:42

5. You need to belong to something bigger than yourself.

" For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another” -  Romans 12:4-5

How Can I Join The Church Membership?

There are four basic requirements to join the membership of Berea Baptist Church.

1. The New Birth – The first step in your relationship with Jesus Christ and afterward the Church is to be born again.

  • Realize all have sinned against God, offended Him with the sin we committed, and need a Saviour.- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” - Romans 3:23
  • Recognize that God loved you even though you have offended Him by breaking His law (committed sin) - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8
  • Receive the gift of God (spiritual life) by turning from your sin (spiritual death), asking God to forgive you and save you by the finished work of Jesus Christ.   The new birth only comes from repentance and asking for God to save your soul.
  • For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 6:23
  • Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. – Acts 20:21

2. Scriptural Baptism –  Immersion baptism is a testimony of the work Jesus has done in you through the new birth.  Baptism never saves or sanctifies, but rather is an outward show of the work of salvation Jesus done inside you.

  • “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” – Colossians 2:12

3. Four weeks of church attendance.

4. A desire to maintain a good testimony and be active in your new Church.
